Becoming a Member at St. Philip’s

At St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, becoming a official member occurs through active participation in parish life—regularly joining us for worship, offering your time and talents, and contributing financial support to our shared mission.

We will also be offering three classes where you can learn more about St. Philip's, the Episcopal Church and your place in both. If you are interested in learning more about who we are, discovering how you can get involved, or preparing for Confirmation, we invite you to join our upcoming 3-session adult program.  Sign Up Today

Program Schedule & Location

Classes will be held in the Choir Room at St. Philip’s. To accommodate your schedule, each class is offered twice per week. You only need to complete each class once, so you can mix and match between Sunday and Tuesday options.  Sunday's classes will be offered after the 10 am service from 11:15-12:15. Tuesday's classes will be offered from 6-7pm.

2026 Fall Schedule: 

  • October 4 and 6th - Class 1:  Welcome the Seeker
  • October 11 and 13 - Class 2: Strengthen the Faithful
  • October 18 and 20 - Class 3: Serve Those in Need.

Class 1: Welcome the Seeker

  • Focus: St. Philip’s Local Story — Who We Are, Sacred Space, & What We Do
    • Explore our parish history, from our 1943 founding through modern initiatives.
    • Learn about our parish mission to welcome seekers and build community.
    • Tour our sacred spaces and learn the meaning behind Episcopal church architecture and symbols.

Class 2: Strengthen the Faithful

  • Focus: Episcopal History, The Book of Common Prayer, & Identity
    • Trace our roots back to the English Reformation and the Via Media ("The Middle Way").
    • Compare Episcopal and Roman Catholic traditions in governance, open communion, and leadership.
    • Explore the Book of Common Prayer and how we use Scripture, Tradition, and Reason to guide our faith.

Class 3: Serve Those in Need

  • Focus: Outreach, Personal Vocation, Pledging, & Active Discipleship
    • Discover your spiritual gifts and find where they fit into our active ministry teams.
    • Understand the role of Confirmation as a public affirmation of faith.
    • Explore pledging as a spiritual discipline of gratitude and trust.
    • Connect with parish leaders and Vestry members during a final reception.

No. While this course serves as the preparation path for adults seeking Confirmation, it is designed for any adult wanting a better understanding of St. Philip’s and their personal place within our faith community

You can attend the corresponding Tuesday evening class instead (or vice versa). You only need to complete each of the three classes once.
