Lego Advent
Lego Advent Calendar
At my house, we are Lego Fans. Each year, we pick up and make the Lego Cities Advent Calendar. Each day starting December 1, there is a new minifigure or creation to open up as we get closer to Christmas. Several years ago, I wrote prayers loosely associated with that day's creation for my then 6-year-old son. Other church leaders heard about this, so I began through the Diocese of Arkansas website, freely sharing it around where it was used in many other churches and even other countries. I am happy to share this tradition now with St. Philips and thank the St. Philips’ church office for helping me edit, print, and add to the prayers.
This is a chance to use Lego to prepare our hearts for Christmas in prayer. Each prayer, written with 5-9-year-old children in mind, corresponds to the day's Lego figure or creation. It is a fun way for you and your family to observe Advent by often giving thanks for people who, often unknowingly, serve as representatives of the risen Christ and make us ever more aware of the love of God.
