Service Times
8 am Rite 1
The 8 a.m. Rite 1 service, characterized by an older language style and pipe organ accompaniment, offers a unique worship experience. Many find it serene and contemplative. It is often described as the home of the 'friendliest 8 o'clock people in Christendom'.
10 am Rite II
- This service includes hymns led by the choir and often includes special music.
- During the service, a nursery is provided by background-checked and trained adults. A Sunday school class for 4—to 9-year-olds is also offered, providing an educational and engaging experience and staffed by background-checked adults and older High School youth. At the end of the service, children return to their families at the Eucharist.
- Our 10-year-old and older youth are encouraged to acolyte in the service.
Coffee Hour After 10 AM Service
Following the 10 AM service, St. Philip’s coffee hour is the place to have conversations and catch up with the lives of fellow parishioners. Refreshments and desserts are available for adults and children—a merry time to enjoy each other.

The Liturgy of the Word
We begin by praising God through song and prayer and then listen to as many as four readings from the Bible. Usually one from the Old Testament, a Psalm, something from the Epistles, and (always) a reading from the Gospels. The psalm is usually sung or recited by the congregation.
Next, a sermon interpreting the readings appointed for the day is preached.
The congregation then recites the Nicene Creed, written in the Fourth Century and the Church’s statement of what we believe ever since.
All Are Welcome
All baptized Christians’ no matter age or denomination are welcome to receive communion. Episcopalians invite all baptized people to receive, not because we take the Eucharist lightly, but because we take our baptism so seriously.
Visitors who are not baptized Christians are welcome to come forward during the Communion to receive a blessing from the presider.
At the end of the Eucharist, the congregation prays once more in thanksgiving and then is dismissed to continue the life of service to God and to the World.
